I have years of experience teaching private students and coaching clarinet and woodwind groups.

I enjoy teaching beginning students both the fundamentals and the fun of music. With a solid foundation of music theory and understanding the basics of the clarinet, music becomes a joy.

I work with high school students to prepare for solo and ensemble contests, as well as

all state auditions and college auditions. I also think it is important to keep the joy in music while exploring the techniques and emotions of intermediate to advanced pieces.

I teach adults looking to learn the clarinet for the first time or pick it back up after not playing for a long time. I currently play in several community ensembles around Portland, and I enjoy the camaraderie of adults learning or relearning their instruments at this stage of their life. Adult learners bring a unique focus and energy to music.

I work from a strong base of fundamentals and theory while keeping learning fun and engaging. I start with the music the student is already working on and music they love, then we build together from there. I value the input of all my students as I guide them in the journey and life long enjoyment of music.
